WHY THE NICKNAME “ZISSOU”? For starters, my oddball colleagues just jump on any opportunity to goof around and the fact that I am an oceanographer and long time fan of the Calypso is a never-ending source of amusement to them.
WHAT IS YOUR VISION FOR THE FUTURE OF OCEAN SCIENCE?
In a nutshell, we embed our ocean experiences with more creativity and breakthrough potential. I believe that we can create products to serve ocean conservation and business requirements in a way that will catalyze the general public and our customers.
This is key for deployment and mass acceptance. In a world of diminishing human-nature interactions, we are in effect turning our customers into the innovators by approaching ocean issues with this creative approach. We develop ways to shape decisions and more importantly, how to embed conservation initiative with customer amplifiers. We create experiences that are more resonant and carry more potential by maximizing differentiation.
